Bloodthirsty Teenage Zombies Invade Ireland !

Boy Eats Girl, filmed entirely on location in Ireland and the Isle of Man, is a wickedly funny and gruesome zombie flick in the tradition of movies like Shawn of the Dead. Directed by Stephen Bradley, this movie is packed with plenty of zombie-licious gore care of the talented mates at Image FX and Team FX. The movie centers on the teenage trials and tribulations of a group of high-school friends; the usual dramas being put aside in favor of the rather inconvenient problem with the sudden need to eat human flesh.

The movie begins as a handsome Nathan (David Leon) has an incurable crush on his gal-pal, Jessica (Samantha Mumba). His two goofy friends, Diggs (Tadhg Murphy) and Henry (Laurence Kinlan) are trying to convince Nathan to ask Jessica to the upcoming school dance. After an unfortunate mix-up, Nathan is heartbroken; certain that sweet Jessica has another beau. After consuming a mass quantity of whiskey, Nathan accidentally hangs himself.

His mother, Grace (Deirdre O'Kane) attempts to bring her son back from the dead with the help of a voodoo book, but screws up the spell and turns poor troubled Nathan into a zombie!

Already beginning to change, Nathan gets in a scuffle with another teen, over the affections of Jessica. Nathan bites the young man and the un-dead zombie fun has begun. Soon the town streets are crawling with hungry, pimpled zombies; can Nathan and his pals stop the cycle before it's too late?

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the film, and found myself cringing and laughing at the same time. The scene with Jessica mowing down her zombie-classmates with her family bull-dozer is hysterically funny and very gory. The talented young cast does a fabulous job and they seemed to have had a great time acting their parts.

Be sure not to miss the Special Features on this disc for cast and crew interviews and a behind the scenes look at the stunts and make-up tricks used in the film.

I happily recommend this movie as a rental and/or purchase.

    Overall Rating: 3 1/2
